Key experience:

  • In-depth knowledge of the legal basis and implementation of SPS requirements, in particular of the EU and US food control systems and hygiene requirements for ensuring the safety of fish and other food products.
  • Proven track-record of assisting developing countries to meet international fish products safety and quality requirements.
  • Hands-on experience for institutional strengthening of the seafood Competent Authorities, and Inspection divisions
  • Substantial experience of technical assistance and training to: fish production and processing industry, fish inspectors
  • Inspection and auditing of seafood industry, vessels and aquaculture plants in respect to quality, hygiene and food safety / HACCP requirements.
  • In-depth knowledge of fish processing technologies, seafood hazards analysis, risk assessment, HACCP, SSOPs and respective control, verification and audit;
  • Experience of project identification, design and implementation
  • Developed regulations, manuals, standards and guides for conformity in respect to specialized seafood production, processing, quality and safety.
  • Extensive, international fisheries sector experience with involvement in fishery sector studies, fleet operation costs and socio-economic analysis.
  • Other highly specialized fields: Laboratory Accreditation Systems (ISO/ IEC 17025). Water Quality Systems / Water Safety Plans, Food Safety Management Systems (ISO 22000/ HACCP) and Product Certification. Specification of laboratory systems and layouts. Validation of analytical methodologies. Water & Food testing parameters and methods (chemical, physical and microbiological)
